Dear Parents,
Strathfield Council has been a supporter of Children’s Week for many years. In honour of this, Strathfield Council would like to join our school community in celebrating Children’s Week 2018.
The theme for Children’s Week is ‘Children’s views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child and the right to be heard’.
This year Strathfield Council will be running a competition for children aged 10-12 years old. Children taking part in the competition will need to write a two minute speech on the environment choosing from two options below:
- What can we do to help?
- Plastics – Why are they a problem?
Children are to submit their speech to Strathfield Council by email to the following address: council@strathfield.nsw.gov.au where a panel will judge the best speech from each school.
The winner will be given a prize and asked to present their speech at a school assembly. A council member will be present to hear this speech and congratulate them on the day.
